I've created this blog to share with family and friends the best meal of my life (so far). We'll see if I decide to stick with it and talk about food in and around Nashville and other things that matter to me. But for now, may  I present...

The Catbird Seat.

When I turned 30 this past May, I realized that there wasn't anything that I wanted. I could get a bigger TV. I could get a fun kitchen tool or gadget or whatever. I could get more clothes. But the fact is: my apartment is tiny and I'm hoping to be moving out of here in the next year or so. So, instead of asking for THINGS, I decided to ask my friends and family to support an ADVENTURE. Ok, a culinary adventure. I created a gofundme.com site and started promoting my "campaign" online through facebook. I know that not that many 30-year-old's give and get presents, but here was something that I knew I wanted and would never splurge on myself.

So, thanks to the gifts from so many friends new and old, and my wonderful family, I had the best meal of my life (so far) last night at The Catbird Seat.

To learn more about TCS, here's their website: https://thecatbirdseatrestaurant.com/ and here's their yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-catbird-seat-nashville

And here's what we ate...

Another snack that didn't make it onto my printed menu. This was a slice of sturgeon over potato with a potato glaze.

Pigeon, Onions, Blueberries

No more pigeon.

Wagyu Ribeye, Matsutake Mushrooms, Yukon Potatoes, Fermented Kohlrabi, Pine Syrup Sauce

A close-up of the ribeye after I was half-done.

The cheese course.

Ewes milk cheese, mushroom

Blue Corn Whiskey + Muscadine White Wine + Sweet Vermouth

Buttermilk Ice Cream, Corn Bread, Concord Grape

Egg, Maple Bacon, Custard, Thyme

Enjoying the custard.

Mad Cuvee Late Harvest Tokaji with Black Maple Hill Bourbon Rinse

Bourbon, Bourbon beads, vanilla cake, cherry crisp, oak wood ice cream, pineapple gelee.

The menu presented after dinner.

I don't want to comment on the food, but we cleaned our plates, and it was worth every penny. A special occasion place that really focuses on its craft. I hope to come back again and suggest you make a reservation as soon as you can!
